Brooklyn, NY - Child Dies in Pedestrian Crash at Wallabout St & Wythe Ave

Brooklyn, NY (April 17, 2024) – A child was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle in the Brooklyn area on Tuesday, April 16. The accident was reported at the intersection of Wallabout Street and Wythe Avenue that afternoon around 2:45 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 10-year-old girl was crossing at the intersection when she was hit by an oncomingdriver. 

A nearby witness quickly attempted to provide aid to the injured party by taking his jacket off to stop the flow of blood. Unfortunately, they told responding officials that the girl was unresponsive. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition where she was later pronounced dead. The 62-year-old driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officials. At this time, the circumstances leading to the deadly accident have not been determined. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
