Manhattan, NY – One Dead in Hit-and-Run on 8 Ave & West 49 St
Midtown, NY (August 12, 2024) – Early on Monday morning, August 12, a tragic hit-and-run incident in Midtown Manhattan resulted in a man’s death after he had initially sustained critical injuries. The collision occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Eighth Avenue, near West 49th Street.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed thus far, was found lying on the road after being hit by a vehicle. Emergency responders transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries but sadly passed away a few hours later.
Authorities stated that the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run had three occupants who fled the scene immediately after the crash. Law enforcement is actively searching for the suspect vehicle, and an investigation is underway to bring those responsible to justice.
