Queens, NY - Boy Killed in Pedestrian Crash at 100th St & 31st Ave

Queens, NY (March 14, 2024) – Two boys were hit while walking on a street in Queens on Wednesday, March 13, leaving one of the victims with fatal injuries. The deadly crash was reported that afternoon at around 4:15 p.m. at the corner of 100th Street and 31st Avenue. The eight-year-old and his 10-year-old brother were traveling on foot when the pair were hit by a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup truck.

Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to render the necessary aid. The younger brother suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The older brother was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. The driver of the pickup, later identified as 52-year-old Jose Barcia, was taken into custody by local officials. Local sources indicated that Barcia went around another vehicle when he hit the two pedestrians, failing to yield to traffic. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
