Southold, NY – Three Hurt in DUI Collision on NY-48
Southold, NY (May 13, 2024) – Three people suffered injuries following a car accident in the Southold area on Sunday, May 12. The incident took place on NY-48 early that morning around 5:15 a.m. It was later revealed that a pickup truck was traveling on the highway when it left the road and crashed into a tree.
Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The driver, later identified as 21-year-old Nicholas Grathwohl of Peconic, and his two passengers were hurt in the collision. All three were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital by ambulance after being treated at the scene by attending medical personnel. It was later revealed that Grathwohl was driving while intoxicated. No further information on the incident is currently available. Local authorities are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
