Cambria, NY – Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision, One Death & Multiple Injuries on Lower Mountain Rd

Cambria, NY (August 26, 2024) – A devastating motor vehicle accident occurred on the afternoon of August 25, 2024, at the intersection of Lower Mountain Road and Baer Road in Cambria, leading to the tragic death of one individual and injuries to several others. The incident, reported at approximately 3:14 p.m., prompted an immediate response from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) and other emergency services.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered a two-vehicle collision involving a 2009 Ford pickup truck and a 2006 Mercury sedan. Preliminary investigations indicate that the Ford pickup was traveling northbound on Baer Road when it entered the intersection with Lower Mountain Road and collided with the westbound Mercury sedan, causing the Ford to overturn onto its side.

The collision had devastating consequences. A 71-year-old female passenger, seated in the backseat of the Ford pickup truck and a resident of Niagara Falls, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries and were transported to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) for treatment.

The occupants of the Mercury sedan also suffered injuries in the crash. The driver, who sustained a severe leg injury, was airlifted to ECMC via Mercy Flight for urgent medical care. Two other passengers in the Mercury were also transported to ECMC to receive treatment for their injuries.

Authorities have withheld the names of those involved, pending notification of their families. The NCSO Accident Investigation Unit is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

We send our most heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
