Holtville, NY (June 17, 2024) – A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after a collision in the Holtville area on Sunday, June 16. The accident was reported at the intersection of Long Island Avenue and Waverly Avenue that afternoon, around 12:50 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2013 Honda motorcycle was traveling east on Waverly Avenue when it was hit by a 2010 Honda sedan.

The driver of the sedan, 21-year-old Annalynn Wood-Gruber of Holtsville, was attempting to make a left turn when she collided with the motorcyclist. The rider, later identified as 52-year-old Antonio Argueta of Bellport, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by ambulance for the treatment of serious injuries. No other injuries were reported in the collision. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be released as it continues.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.

Motorcycle Accidents in New York

Holtsville, NY - Motorcyclist Hurt in Crash at Long Island & Waverly AveMotorcycle accidents are a serious concern due to their higher fatality rates compared to typical collisions. Riders are less likely to survive a collision because they lack the same safety features as those provided to people riding in passenger cars, and bikes are much harder to see due to their smaller size. Additionally, motorcycles are often harder to spot on the road due to their smaller size, increasing the likelihood of accidents caused by visibility issues.

In New York, there were 751,837 motorcycle licenses and 344,688 registered motorcycles in a recent year. This implies that thousands of motorcycles could be on the road at any given time. A total of 3,827 motorcyclists were hurt in collisions that year. Statistics show that riders are almost 26 times more likely to be killed in a crash, with nearly 80 percent of motorcycle accidents ending in death or injury.
