Manhattan, NY – One Injured in Head-On Collision on RFK Bridge

Manhattan, NY (October 1, 2024) – A head-on collision occurred yesterday on the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge in the Randalls-Wards Island area of Manhattan, resulting in significant traffic delays and the apprehension of a driver. According to reports, the vehicle involved was traveling against traffic at high speeds when it collided head-on with another car. Emergency services, including tow trucks, ambulances, and police officers, quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured. The collision caused traffic to slow down significantly as responders worked to assess the situation and provide care to those involved.

The incident, which was first reported around 1:27 PM EDT, prompted the immediate involvement of the MTA Bridge and Tunnel Police. Shortly after the collision, the wrong-way driver was apprehended, and authorities requested a sergeant to the scene. The injured individual was transported to the hospital for further medical care, though the extent of their injuries has not yet been released. The bridge remained partially blocked while responders cleared the area and gathered evidence for the investigation.
