Massapequa, NY - Driver Dies in Rollover on Southern State Pkwy

Massapequa, NY (June 1, 2024) – On Friday, May 31. A driver was killed after a rollover accident in the Massapequa area. The accident was reported on Southern State Parkway near Exit 29 for Hicksville Road that afternoon, around 2 p.m. It was reported that a Toyota Camry and a Chevrolet Colorado collided at the scene.

The impact caused the Chevy to overturn. The driver of the Colorado suffered critical injuries and was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. The driver was later pronounced dead. The deceased victim was later identified as 57-year-old Thomas Bayer of Lindenhurst. The driver of the Camry was also hurt and transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment. The area was closed for several hours while emergency crews were present. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
