Deadly Motorcycle Accidents in New York
Motorcycle crashes are disproportionately more likely to cause serious or fatal injuries. These vehicles are smaller than passenger automobiles, making them more difficult to see, and their riders are less likely to survive an accident because they are not equipped with the same safety features. In a recent year, there were 344,688 bikes registered in New York and 751,837 motorcycle permits issued. This suggests that there could be thousands of motorcycles on the road at any given moment. That year, 3,827 motorcycle riders had injuries overall. According to statistics, motorcyclists are nearly 26 times more likely to die in a crash, with about 80 percent of these accidents resulting in death or injury.
