Queens, NY - Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Truck at 80th St & 57th Ave

Queens, NY (March 14, 2024) – On Tuesday, March 12, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a pickup truck in the Queens area. The fatal accident was reported early that morning at the corner of 80th Street and 57th Avenue. The victim was traveling on foot when they were hit by a truck driven by 38-year-old Mitchell Roderick of Long Island. 

Roderick was driving an F-750 truck owned by the Department of Environmental Protection when he struck a pedestrian, later identified as 43-year-old Natalia Garcia-Valencia. The injured party was transported to Elmhurst Hospital by hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officials. No charges have been filed at this time, and no additional information on the deadly crash is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing accident investigation.
