Staten Island, NY – Officer Hurt in Hit-&-Run on W Shore Expy
Staten Island, NY (May 10, 2024) – On Thursday, May 9, an officer was hurt after a hit-and-run accident in the Staten Island area. The crash took place on W. Shore Expressway near Edward Curry Avenue early that morning around 8:35 a.m. The officer, a 31-year-old man, was hit by a driver who fled the scene.
Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The injured party was transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze for treatment. A male driver later turned himself in to authorities in connection with the incident. It was later reported that the officer was in a marked police vehicle when he was rear-ended by a sedan. The driver fled on foot and abandoned his vehicle at the scene. No additional information on the incident is currently available.
