Speeding Car Crashes in New York
One of the main factors contributing to traffic-related fatalities and injuries is speeding. Drivers in New York frequently exceed speed limits, which greatly increases the risk of an accident. Four percent of all reported collisions in New York City reported in a recent year involved speeding drivers, accounting for 4,526 crashes that year. In 2022, 3,940 motor vehicle accidents throughout the city were caused by careless driving. Sadly, these crashes claimed 12,151 lives all over the country that year, with speeding being directly responsible for approximately 29 percent of all traffic fatalities. This alarming figure means that every day, on average, over 33 people die as a result of speeding. In light of the gravity and frequency of speeding-related collisions, people should put their legal rights and safety first by consulting with an experienced Staten Island personal injury lawyer who handles these kinds of cases.
