The accident was reported at the intersection of Cross County Parkway and Yonkers Avenue late that evening. The victims were traveling in a car on Cross County Parkway when the vehicle overturned.

Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to aid the involved parties. All three were transported by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. The driver and front-seat passenger are reportedly in stable condition. The rear passenger had to undergo surgery due to the incident. The area was temporarily closed while emergency responders were present. Local law enforcement officials are currently handling an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.

Rollover Crashes in New York

Yonkers, NY - Three Injured in Rollover at Cross County Pkwy & Yonkers AveOn American roadways, rollover collisions are becoming more common. Given that sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks are far more likely to roll in a collision, some have suggested that their rising popularity is partly to blame. For whatever reason, rollovers account for less than three percent of reported auto accidents in the United States, but on average, they lead to roughly 33 percent of roadway fatalities. While single vehicles are involved in most rollovers, many include two or more. Vehicle occupants run the risk of being ejected and sustaining severe injuries, and statistics show that most fatal rollovers include unrestrained occupants.
