Bay Shore, NY - Motorcyclist Hurt in Crash at 5th Ave & Fairtown Rd

Bay Shore, NY (April 29, 2024) – On Sunday, a motorcyclist was hurt after a two-vehicle accident in the Bay Shore area. The crash was reported at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Fairtown Road late that night around 8:20 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2014 Chrysler 300 driven by 21-year-old John Hernandez-Hernandez was traveling northbound when it attempted to make a turn at the intersection.

This caused a 2020 Kawasaki motorcycle to collide with the Chrysler. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to provide the necessary medical aid. The rider was later identified as a 32-year-old Central Islip. She was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for the treatment of serious injuries. Hernandez-Hernandez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. No additional information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
