Brooklyn, NY – Woman Dies in Hit-&-Run at New York Ave & Herkimer St
Brooklyn, NY (March 24, 2024) – A woman was killed after being hit by two vehicles in a hit-and-run in the Brooklyn area on Thursday, March 21. The deadly accident took place at the corner of New York Avenue and Herkimer Street late that evening at around 6:30 p.m. The victim, later identified as 79-year-old Yvonne Sandiford, was walking along the roadway when she was hit by a grey Nissan Rogue.
Sandiford was dragged by the vehicle before being hit by a second vehicle, a white Toyota Sienna. Neither of the drivers involved remained at the scene. Emergency responders were later dispatched after being notified of the incident. Sandiford sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
