Brooklyn, NY - Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash at Tilden & Bedford Ave

Brooklyn, NY (March 9, 2024) – On Thursday, March 7, a woman was killed after a pedestrian accident in the Brooklyn area. The fatal crash occurred at the corner of Tilden Avenue and Bedford Avenue near King’s Theatre early that morning at around 6 a.m. Local reports indicated that the victim was traveling on foot in a marked crosswalk when they were hit by a 2014 Kenworth dump truck. 

The truck was heading southbound when the driver hit the woman. The driver had a red light and was reportedly making an illegal right turn as the victim crossed the street. 

The injured party suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased party was later identified as 58-year-old Maria Piovanetti. The at-fault driver initially fled the scene. No further information on the fatal accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in the hands of local authorities.
