New Cassel, NY - Teen Critically Hurt in Pedestrian Crash on Prospect Ave

New Cassel, NY (March 7, 2024) – A teen was critically injured after being hit by a motor vehicle in the New Cassel area on Sunday, March 3. The accident occurred on Prospect Avenue near Kinkel Street that evening at around 6:30 p.m. The 17-year-old pedestrian was crossing the road when he was struck by an oncoming 2009 Honda headed westbound. 

The pedestrian suffered injuries to his head and chest. He was airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition. The 54-year-old woman driving the Honda remained at the scene and cooperated with responding officials. The area was temporarily closed as emergency responders were present. 

No further updates on the accident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials. More information will be provided as it continues.
