Staten Island, NY - Passenger Killed in Crash on Goethals Rd

Staten Island, NY (March 13, 2024) – On Monday, March 11, there were fatal injuries reported following a car crash in Staten Island. The deadly accident was reported on Goethals Road near Jules Drive that night at around 10 p.m. A passenger reportedly suffered fatal injuries after the black BMW sedan they were traveling in was involved in an accident. 

The driver of the BMW reportedly lost control and crashed into a utility pole and fire hydrant. The driver fled on foot and has not been tracked down, as of recent reports. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to provide aid to the involved parties. 

When officials arrived, they found 26-year-old Usman Chugahtai of Staten Island severely injured. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, a 23-year-old man, was transported to Richmond University Medical Center for treatment of sustained injuries. No additional information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
