West Islip, NY – Fatal Sideswipe Accident at NY-231 & Union Rd
West Islip, NY (May 13, 2024) – On Saturday, May 11, one person was killed and another was hurt after an auto accident in the West Islip area. The incident took place at the corner of NY-231 and Union Road early that morning around 2:30 a.m. Two vehicles reportedly collided at the scene.
Local reports revealed that a vehicle carrying five passengers was headed westbound on Union when it lost control and sideswiped another car carrying two people. The collision brought down some power lines and damaged two utility poles. Emergency crews were on the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. One person suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim was transported to a local hospital for additional support.
